Understanding Proposed Marijuana Laws
Brookline High School, Martin Luther King Room
Did you know that Massachusetts currently is considering changes to the existing marijuana laws?
B-CASA invites the Brookline community for a “Coffee and Conversation” breakfast to learn just what the issues are regarding the impending legislation and what the implications might be for our youth, for whom marijuana is already the most widely used illegal drug. Expert speakers will address:
- Recent results from Brookline’s Youth Risk Behavior Survey on teen access and perception of harm
- Pending medical marijuana legislation in Massachusetts – leading proponents and critics will highlight some of the pros and cons of legalizing medical marijuana - Amanda Rosatano, from Rep. Frank Smizik’s office - Carol Read and Heidi Ludwig, Drug Free Communities Coalition Leaders
- The Tarr Bill – a proposal that addresses some of the problems caused by the recent decriminalization of marijuana with the aim of making it on par with alcohol for those under 21 - Detective Sean Conners, advisor for MA Senate Bill Legislation
